Position Description

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Reports to: President

Department: Finance Department

Classification: Exempt

JOB DESCRIPTION INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Serve as Chief Financial Officer of Helicopter Association International (HAI) and its affiliate Helicopter Foundation International and act as Chief Financial Advisor to the President of HAI and HFI
  • Provide all required financial services and reporting to the President in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices, procedures, and principles for:
    •   HAI, a 501(c)(6) organization with an operating budget of approximately $8M; and,
    •   HFI, a 501(c)(3) organization with an operating budget of approximately $350K
  • Supervise Finance Department staff (currently 2 personnel)
  • Establish and maintain organization’s accounting system
  • Draft annual budget in coordination with various departments for review and approval by President and Board of Directors
  • Mnitor organizational compliance with budget and coordinate revision as appropriate
  • Oversee payroll management in coordination with HR / Admin Department
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • In coordination with HAI President and external investment portfolio advisors, monitor and insure compliance with HAI investment policies and advise President regarding same
  • Provide accurate, real time, electronic financial reporting to analyze financial performance and future projections, research capabilities, and other required financial tools
  • Manage HAI’s 401k Profit Sharing Program in coordination with the President and external investment portfolio advisors
  • Insure tax returns and other financial reports are prepared and filed in compliance with all appropriate legal and regulatory requirements
  • Develop, implement, and assure compliance with HAI Financial Policies and Procedures Manual
  • Coordinate with President, Treasurer, and Accountants to insure completion of annual audit
  • Assist in development of HAI sponsored financial / economic oriented educational courses for the helicopter industry
  • Serve as Staff Liaison to HAI’s financial committees
  • Dedicated to the advancement of the international helicopter community.
  • Serve as Treasurer for HAI’s Political Action Committee (PAC) and file all mandated reports and maintain activity reports.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned or required

DESIRED BACKGROUND, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Advanced Degree in Accounting, Business, or related field (Masters desired)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as Chief Financial Officer, VP Finance, or similar position
  • Financial experience with 501(c)(6) and 501(c)(3) organizations
  • Experience managing the financial activities of a Political Action Committees (PACs)
  • Self starter with ability to work independently
  • Dependable and reliable individual able to adapt to demanding, fast paced schedule
  • Ability to exercise strict confidentiality and integrity
  • Customer service orientation towards internal staff and outside third parties
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Innovative and independent thinker
  • Financial experience relating to organizations conducting helicopter operations or related helicopter industry activities preferred
