Our client has over a decade of expertise in the design and manufacture of computing systems for rugged military applications.
Summary Description:
Design sheet metal enclosures to house servers for rugged environments. Work in a team environment to interface with and satisfy customer requirements. Apply lessons learned to new designs for continuous improvement of processes and product. Must be capable of managing long term and short term deadlines. May be required to modify existing designs to provide quick turn prototypes to customers. Will be required to work with metal fabrication vendors in successful completion of designs. Hands on experience with sheet metal fabrication equipment is a plus. Must have a positive team attitude. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design sheet metal enclosures for ruggedized computer equipment
Work with other Engineering disciplines to aid in product development and procedures to improve productivity
Develop and manage Solid Works library for system designs
Interface with sheet metal fabrication facilities for new and current products
Aide in build-up of prototypes
Solve mechanical issues and provide structural stability to enclosures
Document designs, modifications, processes, etc. to ensure complete and accurate records retention.
Report directly to the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities in support of R&D Engineering (for the ideal candidate):
Perform general Electrical Engineering tasks associated with new product design and maintenance of current designs. Take the layout and specifications for new chassis designs and generate data and power specifications with regards to cabling and power supplies. You will support R&D by designing power and data cables and generate specifications for electrical components for use in designs.
- Perform complete procedure on vibration, shock, thermal, sound, and other environmental testing to applicable MIL-STDs
- Prepare test documentation and test reports
- Review and evaluate test requirements to insure completeness of testing procedure
- Operate data acquisition systems, various communication interfaces, software programs, shakers, chambers, controllers, environmental test equipment
- Read and interpret simple scripts/coding to run test profiles
- Maintain test equipment in the Environmental Test Lab
- Troubleshoot and calibrate test equipment
- Provide support in the design and development cycles
- Travel to participate, witness and assist environmental testing performed at customer sites
Additional Preferred Education Skills and Abilities (for ideal candidate)
Ability to interpret military standards and specifications
Experience in working in a test laboratory conducting environmental testing
Experience in using computerized control systems, measuring equipment, test instrumentation and data acquisition systems
Knowledge/experience in Linux environment
Must pass a background check and drug screen.
