General Summary

As a Tech Lead on the team, you will work with product managers, engineers, and data analysts to build new and high-quality experiences. With the help of your team, you will design and build new full stack ecosystems to fuel acquisition and engagement of our consumers. You will provide guidance on key architectural decisions and establish strong development processes. You will also have the opportunity to tackle significant engineering challenges, such as architecting new iterations of critical components for our systems and optimizing our systems for resilience as they scale.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop the overall architecture and technical design of our engineering systems and platforms.
  • Contribute to technical documentation (instructional, pitch, story card and technical specification).
  • Help establish company development standards and processes.
  • Discuss technical solutions with relevant stakeholders and provide innovative new ideas and/or solutions.
  • Maintaining a high awareness of industry issues and trends, particularly in regard to accessibility, usability, and emerging technologies, and keep team members informed as appropriate, with a view to incorporating these in future projects and staying ahead of the market and position yourself and the company as a lead developer.
  • Complies with all applicable Rules, Regulations and Statutes of the NCUA and other appropriate governing bodies to include but not limited to: the Credit Union Bylaws, Credit Union Code of Conduct, Credit Union Employee Guidebook, Bank Secrecy/Anti-Money Laundering Act, Fair Housing Act, Fair Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting and all Credit Union Marketing Compliance requirements.

Experience and Skills


Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems.

(Other field of study will be considered, with an additional 4 years of experience.)

Experience: 7+ years of full-stack development experience

Strong expertise in building web applications end-to-end using modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) and back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, Java, Python)

Strong understanding of system design patterns, software architecture principles, data structures and algorithms

Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g, Greenplum, AWS, Azure) and deploying applications in a cloud environment

Knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (e.g., Docker), and infrastructure automation

Create and document effective API frameworks to encourage integration between new and old systems across the organization

Provide an efficient testing process for deployed software to ensure responsiveness and reliability

Technical leader that can provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers

Skills: Strong experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue

Strong experience with backend architectural design

Expert skills in database management

Deep expertise with integrations and APIs

Solid understanding of modern testing and debugging practices

Experience working with version control

Communication: Must have superior interpersonal skills and be comfortable engaging with people from a wide variety of roles, cultures, and economic backgrounds.

Locations: Remote opportunities in the following states only: MD, DC, VA, CT, FL, IL, LA, MA, NC, SC, TX, and Seattle, WA (Minimum $112,935.45 - Maximum $169,403.18)
