Opening for Federal Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor/Trainer 
(Job Order No. 2453)
Location: Rayburn Bldg., Washington, D.C.
Estimated Start Date: ASAP
 
HSSI, a premier US Government law enforcement training and security support company, is searching for a full-time Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor to support the US National Capitol Police in Washington, D.C. 
 
Required Qualifications:
  1. 3 years’ experience serving as an instructor for a weapons training program. Preference is given for Law Enforcement Officer firearms instructor experience.
  2. Ability to work rotating hours and shifts to include days, evenings when required.
  3. Ability to convey ideas verbally in an adult learning environment.
  4. Experience in determining course goals and developing and executing lesson plans and practical exercises using traditional and innovative teaching methods with adult learners in a law enforcement setting. 
  5. Experience in preparing and delivering the course materials including content, sequence, timing, presentation and instructional methodology
  6. Experience in researching and analyzing relevant case law for course presentation, and evaluating and revising course content as necessary.
  7. Ability to stay abreast of literature and other materials in assigned training areas, evaluate the potential of new materials and instructional aides and participates in training workshops, seminars, and courses.
  8. Ability to deviate from daily lesson plans as necessary to adjust to changes in law enforcement procedures, equipment and techniques.
  9. Experience testing, rating, and scoring students, officers, and officials who participate in training programs and making the initial determination on whether they qualify or fail to qualify to meet department standard.
  10. Experience in analyzing the results of ratings and scores and exercising independent judgement and discretion in making recommendations to management on training policies and other training related processes.
  11. Ability to perform such administrative support training duties as class scheduling and coordination, record keeping and property management.
  12. Ability to pass an initial firearms proficiency or qualification course of fire with an 85% score which equates to 255 points out of a possible of 300 points.
  13. Ability and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
Education/Training Requirements:
  1. Successful completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Center’s (FLETC) Firearms Instructor Training Program (FITP), or equivalent.
